Amazon have long had their own ad platform, though its been a relatively small activity compared to their use of Google Adwords, but that looks set to change.

Amazon are about to up their game when it comes to advertising when they start rolling out Amazon Sponsored Ads later this year. Amazon already generate $1Bn in revenues from advertising and with the launch of their latest advertising platform they are clearly wanting to increase that.

With so much information about who buys what it’s easy to imagine that Amazon targeting and relevance could be much higher than even the best attempts from Google.

As a revenue stream it looks like a no brainer and probably raises the question as to why they haven’t went after this market more aggressively previously.
