On Tuesday 28th May, six of the Seller Dynamics team embarked on a trip to London to take part in the Tamebay Cup e-commerce football tournament. With injuries, last minute drop outs, and a player who forgot his football boots, the team were under no illusions about winning the 24 team tournament outright. Our aim was simply to go to London, play hard, make friends and have fun, which is exactly what we did. Considering the seven hour bus ride on a Peugeot Eurobus, the team did relatively well punching above their weight and amassing 4 points. The final results from Group D were as follows:

Played : 5 Won: 1, Drew: 1 Lost: 3

The journey to London was long and tiring but proved to be entertaining nonetheless. Documented on the Seller Dynamics Twitter page through the hashtag #sellerdynamicsroadtrip, many laughs were had, mainly when we were driving through the Midlands and Eddie realised that he had forgotten his football boots!! Cue a stop off in Coventry and a rushed trip to Sports Direct, we were on our way to Wembley. Although we were fuelled by an athlete’s pre-game diet of McDonalds and KFC, chicken nuggets clearly have a different effect on Usain Bolt than they do on mere mortals as we discovered when Ford ran us ragged in our opening game.

Despite being on the back foot for most of the match against an extremely athletic and talented Ford side, we were undone by a last minute goal to put us on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Heavy defeats inflicted by Just Giving and Metapack respectfully made the outlook look bleak but against all the odds we rallied to a hard fought 1-0 victory against RAZsor. After taking the lead against Brightpearl we were pinned back by a somewhat controversial equaliser (direct shot from the centre) but the points were shared and we ended the night with our heads held high and sitting in 4th place in Group D.

We had a great time in London and met some great people working in the e-commerce industry. We were on the road again the next day via a quick drive past the impressive Wembley Stadium before heading north to Stirling.

On a closing note, congratulations to Wholesale Clearance for winning the tournament outright with a string of sterling  performances and a big thanks to everyone from Tamebay and Genie and the Geek for organising the event. We will definitely be taking part next year and no doubt investing some time on improving our match fitness!
