On the day when we announced to the world the news of our new partnership with French retail giant Fnac, we were alerted to a highly relevant infographic published by ComScore which highlighted the prominence of French internet users. Despite the text content of the infographic being written en Francais, it gives us all the opportunity to brush up on our French GCSE knowledge while learning a thing or two about this interesting market segment.

French Female Internet Habits

In a country with a population of over 65 million, a staggering 23.5million female internet users spent an average of 24 hours online in September 2012. For retailers looking to break into the French market or increase their current market share in France, these recent statistics stated that there are currently 15 million female internet shoppers in France whose top three shopping items were listed as:

1.Clothing
2.Entertainment (DVD, blu-ray, books)
3.Travel

For retailers looking to target a female audience specifically from a male audience, the following items were those where there was the greatest proportional difference between male and female internet users:

•Textile
•Perfume
•Leather goods
